The United States has placed third place at the Women's World Cup football tournament in China.

The U.S. women took the field seeking to make a statement following a devastating 4-0 loss to Brazil in the semifinals. And they pressured Norway from the start, firing 12 shots in the first half compared to just three for Norway.

Abby Wambach was credited with a goal in the 30th minute when a pass from midfielder Lori Chalupny went off her calf and into the net. Norway's defense began to crumble in the 46th minute when Wambach easily tapped in a loose ball.

Chalupny added a 58th minute score on a deflected pass. Heather O'Rielly also found an opportunity to score just one minute later. Chalupny says the team achieved its immediate goal of rebounding from the semifinal defeat.

"After the game, it was a special feeling for this team. We did come here with a goal in mind to win first place," said Chalupny. "After the semifinal it was kind of a heartbreak. But we did come together as a team and really went after this game."

Norway salvaged a goal in the 63rd minute on a beautiful header by Ragnhild Gulbrandsen, who ended the tournament as Norway's top scorer with six goals.

The next major tournament for both teams will be the Beijing Olympics next year.

Famed opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who appeared on stage with singers as varied as opera star Dame Joan Sutherland, U2's Bono and Liza Minnelli, died Thursday after suffering from pancreatic cancer, his manager Terri Robson said in a statement. He was 71."The great tenor, Luciano Pavarotti, died today at 5:00 a.m. at his home in Modena, the city of his birth," according to Robson."The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterized his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness."According to Robson, his wife, Nicoletta; his daughters, Lorenza, Cristina, Giuliana and Alice; his sister, Gabriela; and other relatives and friends were at his side when he died.The portly singer retired from staged opera in 2004, but was on a "farewell tour" of concerts when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2006 and underwent emergency surgery to remove the tumor.Although the remaining concerts of his tour were canceled, his management said that he hoped to resume the tour in 2007.

1. 咸阳博物馆。咸阳是秦文化的发祥地。陈列内容以秦汉历史文物为主，里面陈列的汉代陶马栩栩如生，姿态各异；其中以西汉三千彩绘兵马俑最为出名，气势宏大，值得仔细欣赏。咸阳博物馆现有七个陈列室，其中咸阳历史文物陈列室三个，西汉帝陵文物陈列室一个，西汉彩绘俑陈列室二个，还有一个是临时陈列室。馆内共藏有文物近2万件，是研究秦汉历史文化的宝贵资料。
2. 茂陵、乾陵、昭陵、杨贵妃墓，唐墓，霍去病墓。其中茂陵是西汉第五个皇帝汉武帝刘彻的墓、霍去病墓、卫青及李夫人陵组成的，也是汉代帝王陵墓中规模最大、修造时间最长、陪葬品最丰富的一座。博物馆在霍去病墓旁，有鎏金铜马、秦汉画像和文字瓦当等珍贵文物还有汉代大型的石刻群，记得摸一下霍去病的墓碑，寓意可以去病消灾。茂陵也有流水和小桥，但是属于北方比较大气的风格。乾陵是唐高宗李治和武则天的合葬陵，是“唐十八陵”中保存最完整的一座皇家陵园，是中国历史上唯一一座两个皇帝的合葬墓。陵墓延续了唐代“因山为陵“的墓葬制度，建于陕西乾县梁山上。远观此山象一位美女睡姿，俊秀飘逸。乾陵地面文物主要是石刻，共计114件，有著名的石狮、61宾像及武则天的“无字碑”和为高宗记功的“七节碑”。陵前石刻全长575米，宽11米，由3200块陕西墨玉石砌成526级台阶和18座平台。陵东南有17座陪葬墓，永泰公主、章怀太子、懿德太子墓先已发掘复原。
3. 法门寺。佛祖指舍利的存放处，我国著名佛教胜地。位于扶风县。因藏有佛祖释迦牟尼“真身舍利”而轰动世界的法门寺，是一座历史悠久的佛家名刹。法门寺始建于东汉，相传印度的阿育王为使佛教发扬光大，将佛祖舍利分送给各地，凡得舍利处都要建造佛塔供奉，法门寺就是其中之一，而且是规模最大一处。1987年在清理塔基时，发现了被封闭千年的唐代地宫，里面珍藏着佛祖释迦牟尼指骨舍利以及大批的唐代珍贵文物。这一发现意义重大，是继秦始皇兵马俑之后的又一重大发现，也是佛教史上的一大盛事。西安到法门寺车程约2.5小时.
4. 太白山。位于宝鸡市眉山县。秦岭生态原始森林的及至表现。有温泉，称西汤浴与蓝田的东汤浴并称。第四纪冰川、奇珍异禽、太白积雪（6月份上山会有皑皑百雪哦，强烈建议游玩。）
5. 宝鸡嘉陵江源头。大家都知道嘉陵江在重庆，可他的源头在陕西，源头的水清澈见底，风景宜人。
6. 关山牧场。陕西唯一的草原地貌，这里可以纵马驰骋，露宿野营，烧烤肥羊哦

1. 秦始皇陵。中国第一个封建帝王，中国第一个统一王朝，中国第一个同意度量衡、文字、钱币的皇帝。万里长城永不倒，秦始皇已然不在。秦始皇陵位于陕西省临潼县城东约5公里处的骊山北麓。陵墓规模
宏大，修建时间长达37年之久，分为内外两城，内城方形，
外城长方形。陵园南部是墓葬区，今墓冢为四方锥形，底部南北长515米，东西宽485米，高55米。墓内机关重重，有众多的珍品陪葬。虽然始皇陵的价值极高，但由于各种原因，迄今为止尚不能挖掘。秦始皇地宫是根据科学探测仪探测出秦始皇陵内部情况，而人工搭建模拟目前没有挖掘的秦始皇陵。
2.“世界第八大奇迹”——秦兵马俑博物馆
是始皇陵的从葬坑，位于秦始皇陵东侧约1公里半处，发现于1974年，是当代最重要的考古发现之一。一号坑是当地农民打井时发现的，后经钻探又先后发现二、三号坑，其中一号坑最大，面积达14260平方米。三个坑共发掘出700多件陶俑、100多乘战车、400多匹陶马、10万多件兵器。陶俑身高在1米75至1米85之间，根据装束、神态、发式的不同，可以分为将军俑，武士俑，车士俑等。坑内还出土有剑、矛、戟、弯刀等青铜兵器，虽然埋在土里两千多年，依然刀锋锐利，闪闪发光，可以视为世界冶金史上的奇迹。秦始皇兵马俑规模宏大，场面威武，具有很高的艺术价值。目前展出的大部分为一号坑中的兵马俑，由于保护技术有限，已回埋4000余，只展出1000多个。
特别关照：不管什么时候这里游览的人都会比较多，蹭导游不成问题。

3. 华清池、骊山。唐时宫廷御花园，杨贵妃在此沐浴，常年温泉，洗过后延年益寿，治疗皮肤病。园内花鸟鱼虫杨柳榴花。其实华清池的历史非常悠久，相传早在西周时期，周幽王就曾在此建骊宫；后世的秦始皇、汉武帝也都在这里建立行宫；唐代更是大兴土木，特别是唐玄宗天宝年间修建的宫殿楼阁更为豪华，并正式改名为“华清宫”。区内有荷花阁、飞霞阁、五间厅（西安事变时蒋介石曾在此居住）等建筑，其中温泉石壁上的《温泉颂碑》是我国碑石艺术宝库中的精品。中区是唐华清宫御汤遗址博物馆，区内有莲花汤、海棠汤、太子汤、尚食汤、星辰汤及文物陈列室。西区内有九龙湖、飞霞殿，还有《杨玉环奉诏温泉宫》大型壁画，该画由90块汉白玉组成，长9.15米，高3.6米，描述了开元二十八年唐玄宗在骊山温泉宫第一次召见杨玉环的情景。骊山也在华清池园内，骊山是秦岭北侧的一个支脉，东西绵延20余公里，最高海拔1256米，远远望去，整座山形如一匹黑色的骏马。骊山风景秀丽，相传在洪荒时代，这里就是女娲“炼石补天”的地方；西周周幽王“烽火戏诸侯”的闹剧也发生于此。骊山山腰有一座老君殿，是华清宫朝元阁遗址，原是敬奉老子的地方。殿内原有的老子石刻像，艺术价值很高，现存于陕西博物馆内。山腰上还有一个不起眼的小石洞，这就是西安事变中，蒋介石的藏身之所，洞边有一座小亭子，名为“兵谏亭”。在老君殿北面，你可以欣赏到“长安八景”之一的“骊山晚照”，每到夕阳西下之时，这里的台阶状山坡笼罩在金黄的微光之中，一派宁静平和的景象。最著名的要属蒋界石被抓的“病柬亭”，以前称捉蒋亭，为体现人道还是改了名。当年蒋界石在五间听里睡的正香，听到有人来抓，提着裤子就上到了这里。最终被擒。这也就是著名的西安事变的开端。
交通：火车站东侧的306（游7）和307路公交车（30分钟可到），平均10分钟一趟。
4. 临潼博物馆。从华清池出来向右走，步行五分钟不到就是临潼博物馆。临潼博物馆是一座以陈列该县出土文物为主的地方性博物馆，紧临华清池，红柱挺立，回廊曲绕，别具一格。该馆建于1979年，占地6600平方米，陈列面积约600平方米。沿袭中国北方四和院的形式，馆内设有周秦艺术室、唐代佛教艺术室、汉唐艺术室三个陈列室和一个碑廊，收藏自新石器时代至明清时代文物共1万余件，其中有最早的西周青铜器、唯一记载武王伐纣的遗物，有从唐庆山寺遗址出土的金棺银尊、释迦如来舍利宝帐（属于极为珍贵的佛教文物）。
以上1、2、3、4均可在火车站坐306路到达。

关中八景流传于周秦汉唐，形成于明清。它的命名，有些是借大自然呈现的奇异景象，有些是文人学士赋传记胜，有些是民间的神话传说。
华山仙掌：进了潼关，便进入了关中的东大门。“华山仙掌”首先向您鼓掌致意，这是关中八景第一景。

雁塔晨钟：这里的雁塔，指的是西安市城南荐福寺内的小雁塔。塔旁保存着一口金明昌三年（公元1192年）铸的2万多斤重的大铁钟。过去，每天清晨都要按节律敲击大铁钟，向人们报晓。清脆而宏亮的钟声，远震古城内外。

骊山晚照：骊山位于临潼县境内，属于秦岭支脉，海拔1256米。昔日松柏满山，一片苍郁，实像一匹纯青的骊马，美如锦绣。每当夕阳西下，骊山在斜阳的映照中涂上一抹红霞，非常美丽动人，人称“骊山晚照”。

太白积雪：太白山位于眉县城南20公里。南界洋县，东接拂坪，西南与留坝、凤县相连，海拔4000余米，为秦岭的最高峰。太白山山高水冷，因而高处背阳的地方，在三伏天仍可看到白雪，“太白积雪” 指的就是这里的风光。

曲江流饮：曲江池，位于西安市南郊，距城约5公里，它曾经是我国汉、唐时期一处极为富丽优美的园林。
灞柳风絮：灞河是发源于秦岭蓝谷的一条河，横贯西安东部，向北注入渭河。早在秦汉时，人们就在灞河两岸筑堤植柳，阳春时节，柳絮随风飘舞，好象冬日雪花飞扬。因此，“灞柳风絮”便成为“关中八景”之一。

草堂烟雾：草堂寺，位于户县境内的主峰山北麓，相传始建于晋代。传说当年每到秋冬早晨，井内冒出一股烟雾，直往帝都长安飘去，因而被称“烟雾井”，形成“草堂烟雾”。
咸阳古渡：横贯关中的渭河，从古秦都咸阳旁边流过。“咸阳古渡”指的就是咸阳的渭河渡口。

1. 黄帝陵，中华人文初祖黄帝的陵墓，古柏参天，庄严肃穆，中华儿女皆到此祭奠祖先，你能不来吗？位于黄陵县。
2. 司马迁祠，我国古代大哲学家历史学家司马迁的故乡。位于韩城市。这里有著名的关中民俗住宅大院。还有洽川自然湿地。可以到黄河上坐一次摆渡，抓上几天黏鱼，喝上几口鱼汤，美哉美哉。
3. 延安 革命圣地，长征的会合点，新中国开创者门蛰伏了10年的地方，以前这里是穷的掉渣，现在？去看看就知道了，享受民俗风情，感受革命圣地，缅怀先烈遗志。宝塔山黄河延安，go go go。
4. 壶口瀑布，位于陕西宜川县与山西吉县交界处，距离延安220公里。我国落差最大的河流瀑布，气势雄伟，壮观、悲壮。养育中华儿女的黄河从这里奔流直下。1997年的小黑从这里飞过，不过物是人非。许多去过壶口的朋友都推荐由吉县一侧进入，这是因为黄河在这里是自偏西北向下流向偏西南，而吉县位于瀑布东侧，视角大，基本可从正面见到整个瀑布全景。不过，从陕西一侧看瀑布也有特色，正好可看到瀑布由“壶嘴”喷出的奇景。
5. 榆林，一个神秘古老的城市。一个现代充满生机的城市，毛乌苏沙漠，统万城，看惯了翠绿的山山水水，去感受一下沙漠的魅力吧。(主要景点:红石峡，镇北台，李自成行宫,红碱淖风景区。)

1. 兴教寺、香积寺、杜甫祠，位于长安区。著名佛教圣地。
2. 翠华山，西安市民最喜欢去的森林公园之一，内有冰洞（四季皆冰啊）风洞（置身其中，会有很大风，奇怪奇怪）天池等。风景秀丽，美不胜收啊。
3. 南五台、嘉午台，
都是秦岭山麓的著名风景区。
4. 终南山，古时的人们走到这里以为走到了天的尽头，故称之为终南山。在西安市长安县城南15公里处，它东起盛产美玉的蓝田山，西至秦岭主峰太白山，横跨蓝田、长安、户县、周至等县，绵延200余里，天造地设，雄峙在古城长安（西安）之南，成为长安城高大坚实的依托、雄伟壮丽的屏障；著名的秀峰有王顺山、太兴山、嘉午台、翠华山、南五台、小五台、青华山、圭峰山、紫阁山、万花山、清凉山、望仙坪、朱雀森林公园、楼观台等。金庸小说中的全真教就是在此，这里是著名的道教圣地。群山环抱，气势磅礴。也许到此游玩你能找到小龙女居住的活死人墓也说不定的。
5. 榨水溶洞，秦岭南麓，是其他的洞穴景观，值得一看。
6. 朱雀国家森林公园、王顺山。位于户县。
7. 水陆庵、汤峪、金鱼沟、草堂寺、 仙游寺、都是位于蓝田县的著名景点。
